More about Jerry
I grew up in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and when I mean on the coast, literally on the water. I started working with my dad, out on his lobster boat at the age of six and worked every summer and whenever not in school. When I turned twelve, I got a skiff I named Red At Night and started fishing my own traps along with still working for my dad. After graduating High School, I decided I wanted to see more of the world, and I also wanted to stay on the water, so I decided to serve my county in the US Navy. While in the Navy I worked in the Main Engineering spaces of the USS Oak Hill LSD-51, on which I did two Mediterranean deployments. I earned a Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and other accommodations, including reaching the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer. When I left sea duty, I was assigned to Sewall’s Point Precinct and worked as base police and security. After eight- and one-half years of proudly serving my country, I returned to my hometown to work as a carpenter; this was a steppingstone to get back into the marine world as a Marine Diesel Technician and Yacht systems technician. I worked at two different boatyards over the 11 years. I now work at a CNC factory, repairing and maintaining CNC equipment that supports our military.
When not working or writing, I like to work in my shop, either building something with my kids or working on my Jeep. I also enjoy shooting and have started passing that tradition to my son and daughter.
Other than being with my family, I love the freedom writing gives me. I can get away from reality and just..... be.
